Portable Display 3 — setup

  • every texture runs live, as the frame plays it
  • arrange · tune · write over usb-c
  • four orientations, up to eight steps each

software

Seoul, 2026.08.

Everything below runs live, exactly as the frame will play it. Pick a texture, tap a slot in the frame — or drag it straight in. Tap a filled cell empty-handed to tune, reorder or remove it. The arrangement keeps itself saved in this browser as you work; plug the frame in over usb-c to write it into the metal.

Writing needs desktop Chrome or Edge. Everything else runs anywhere.

textures

yours

The frame takes your own pictures three ways. Letters — type anything, Korean included, and it becomes two textures: floating as a card, or scrolling across. A photo — it lands as a 64 × 64 still. Or set the pixels yourself, one by one.

frame

tune

tap a cell in the frame to tune it.

connect

Plug the frame’s SW port into this computer and connect. The arrangement the frame holds loads in here, and from then on every step you touch shows on the panel itself, as you tune it.

not connected

write

Write the arrangement into the frame — same cable, about ten seconds. It survives power-off; from then on, rotating and clapping walk through what you placed here.

firmware

Frames sold with earlier firmware take an update from this page first — after that, writing arrangements works. The panel goes dark for about a minute during the update; do not unplug.
